Help Protect Humanitarian Aid Workers World Wide
Support the Campaign to have 2010 be declared "The Year to Protect Humanitarian Aid Workers"
Since the beginning of the "War on Terror", the development community has witnessed a nearly one thousand fold increase of the targeting of international aid workers. Though the causes of this trend are up for debate, one thing is clear, until international recognition of this problem is addressed the violence will continue. Please add your name to join our efforts to better protect those individuals who are working in the field to improve the lives of the worlds most vulnerable.
A report by the Center for International Cooperation and the Overseas Development Institute tallies a total of 122 aid worker fatalities in 2008, including 45 in Somalia, 33 in Afghanistan and 19 in Sudan.

Humanitarian work is important to protect people from disasters and also from inequalities imposed on them by local power holders.
Lyndsey Price Yonkers, NY @ 11:29PM PT Jan 11
Humanitarian Aid Workers need to get in to areas that are dangerous but where people are trapped and need help. Protection has to be provided in order for the person to provide the needed assistance.

Humanitarian Aid Workers are performing vital, life giving services to some of the most vulnerable people in the world. This service occures in some of the most dangerous places in the world and the Workers need to be expertly protected. They save so many lives that giving their own lives should absolutely not be part of the price they pay.
Anastasiya Snigireva @ 11:36PM PT Sep 17
