Aid Workers Killed in Afghanistan, Bangladesh

Two aid agency staff were recently killed in Afghanistan. According to the Afghanistan NGO Safety Office (ANSO), an Afghan working with an international NGO was killed earlier this month when armed men entered his home; he was shot and subsequently died of his wounds. It appears as tho this killing was related to a personal dispute, and not the man's work.

Also, last week, an aid agency security guard was killed during a firefight near his home village. The circumstances of his death - i.e. whether it was deliberate or accidental - are unknown.

" Late on Sunday, 12 July, a female NGO staff member was strangled to death in an apparent robbery and rape attempt in Bangladesh...Ms. Akhter worked as an assistant accountant with the Boalmari office of Social Development Committee, a Bangladeshi NGO."
