Breaking - Second Aid Worker Killed in Somalia

Published January 08, 2009 @ 11:05PM PT

The World Food Program (WFP) reports that one of its staff was killed Thursday in Somalia.  According to witnesses, the attack took place 6 miles north of Mogadishu.

Another WFP worker was killed in Somalia earlier this week.

In addition, two aid workers - and at least one civilian contractor working for the UN - have been killed in Gaza over the past few days.

For more information on attacks against aid workers, see here.

And, finally, some good news - the Somalia NGO Safety and Preparedness Program reports that two aid workers kidnapped in late September on the Ethiopian-Somali border have been released.
