Video: Egyptian Police Organize Assault on Gaza Aid Convoy

Published March 09, 2009 @ 04:31AM PT

Yesterday, a convoy of 200 vehicles travelling over land from London to Gaza, reached the Egyptian city of al-Arish. The convoy is an avowedly pro-Palestinian, humanitarian mission. One of the participants in the British MP from Respect, George Galloway. Those following the route of the convoy over the past 3 weeks have been wondering, what will the Egyptians do?

Now we know:

EL-ARISH, Egypt (AFP) — A British convoy led by MP George Galloway with medical relief for Gaza was pelted with stones and vandalised in the Egyptian town El-Arish on Sunday, an organiser said.

The convoy, which set out from London last month carrying relief supplies valued at one million pounds (1.4 million dollars), arrived in El-Arish, about 45 kilometres (28 miles) from the Rafah passage to Gaza, on Saturday.

"It's an absolute disgrace," convoy organiser Yvonne Ridley told AFP. "The power was cut. During cover of darkness members of our convoy were attacked with stones.

"Vandals also wrote dirty words and anti-Hamas slogans," she said. "Several people in the convoy were injured in the attack."

This clip includes footage taken during the attack.

Well well!!! Finally the regime of Mubarak reveals his true face of a collaborator in and enforcer of the siege Gaza. This happened on Egyptian territory and Mubarak cannot hide behind lame excuses about a treaty with Israel.
This is the behavior that Israel expects from the "good guys" of the darling PA: agents of the occupation under the guise of peace and a semblance of authority and sovereignty.
